Most of my images draw on the urban landscape. While I may plan and stage an image, I generally discover my subject matter spontaneously while on the prowl. I challenge myself to transform what otherwise may be unnoticed into something that will captivate the viewer.  My primary inspiration comes from photography produced during the first half of 20th century including the styles of street photographers such as Stieglitz, Atget, Kertesz, and Cartier-Bresson; the industrial imagery of Margaret Bourke-White; and the cultural, photo documentary statements of Robert Frank.

I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama obtaining a B.S. in Mathematics at the University of Alabama. My career over the years has been in the computer and software industry. During those years I have lived and worked in Alabama, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Northern Virginia, and in 2004 my wife and I settled in Culpeper, Va. The two cities that most influenced my art were Miami, which loosened my southern roots, and the District of Columbia with its array of museums, galleries, and workshop opportunities that flourish around our nation’s Capitol city.

While in Alexandria, VA, I was an active member of the Art League of Alexandria and the Arts Council of Fairfax. Since moving to Culpeper, I have become active in the Windmore Foundation for the Arts wherein I host a digital photography workshop in April and May of each year. My work has been displayed in many galleries and commercial buildings in the greater DC area and locally in Culpeper. During the period 2003-2005, I had at least four pieces per year selected in the monthly juried shows at the Alexandria Art League Gallery in the Torpedo Factory qualifying me as a resident Bin Artist during those years. Before going to digial format, I received “Best in Show” winning the Marshall Award at an Art League Show in the late 1980's. Other shows and awards include:
